Anaphylaxis

Anaphylaxis is a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. Anaphylaxis symptoms usually come on suddenly and can progress quickly.

Common symptoms include runny nose, rash, swelling, wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and a drop in blood pressure resulting in loss of consciousness. The most common causes of anaphylaxis are foods, insect stings, medications, and latex.

The physicians at Highland Park Allergy and Asthma Specialists can help determine the cause of anaphylaxis and help you take steps to prevent it from occurring again in the future.
